• I believe there is some kind of magic that comes just from looking at somebody. In the beginning, I called it "Genius" in a very cynical way. Then I started to look at real geniuses in history and all of them have the same expression, of something very bitter. It's bitter because they have this kind of knowledge that they cannot share. They don't have the time or energy to deal with other people.

• Para mí, los cuadros tienen que ver con la belleza. Son muy femeninos, y la belleza es algo muy femenino. Durante mucho tiempo, la gente me hablaba de identidad. No tengo problemas con la identidad, sólo sigo este tipo de belleza femenina porque me convertí en víctima de mi arte, que creo que es lo mejor para un artista. • Mis cuadros solían ser muy realistas y me resultaba un poco aburrido, sobre todo ahora que estoy en New York. Quería ser más libre, primero en mi mente y luego, poco a poco, en mi obra. Muchos artistas dan esos saltos en su trabajo y en algún momento parece un supermercado. Para mí era importante evolucionar.

• Gran parte de mi trabajo trata de esos momentos que encuentras, como cuando conduces solo por la noche a solas, o te sientas en casa a fumar un cigarrillo y de repente suena una música preciosa -para mí es música triste de piano- y piensas: "Estoy tan enamorado y ni siquiera sé de qué". Quieres congelar ese momento.
