• NEU!'s music will always ("für immer") be a part of me and I absolutely stand to what we've created. Of course I have changed since and I judge my contributions to NEU!'s music of the 70's in a historical context. They were both a description of my feelings back then as well as an expression of my musical abilities and limitations. It would be a mistake to ignore the time factor and it would be an artistic shortcoming to pick up on the old concept without doing any changes. There is no way this is going to happen anyway.

• Back then and later on when I was in NEU! and Harmonia I was too much preoccupied with my own music to be aware of the German music scene, let alone following it actively. But changes which were happening with S.o.S. (namely the development of individual ideas and the effort to distinguish from the Anglo- American rock patterns) also helped me recognize other musicians within my immediate vicinity.

• Antes de unirme a Kraftwerk en 1971, toqué la guitarra en un grupo llamado Spirits of Sound, entre cuyos miembros se encontraban (a veces), entre otros, el cantante Wolfgang Riechmann (Sky Records publicó su único álbum en solitario, Wunderbar, poco después de su muerte en 1978) y el batería Wolfgang Flür (más tarde en Kraftwerk, ahora en solitario). La música de S.o.S. a mediados de los 60 era primero la música pop y rock inglesa de la época (Beatles, Kinks, Rolling Stones ).

• Como objetor de conciencia, hice mi servicio comunitario en 1971 en un hospital psiquiátrico y un amigo de allí, que también tocaba la guitarra, me invitó un día a unirme a él para grabar música de cine con una banda llamada Kraftwerk, que yo no conocía entonces. Fui a la sesión con Ralf Hütter y un batería (creo que se llamaba Charly Weiß). Florian Schneider y Klaus Dinger estaban presentes como oyentes y a todo el mundo le gustó la música espontánea que hicimos juntos.
